How’d we end up in PB again?

Well I suppose it has been a few weeks since my previous post in the Las Vegas airport (aka my hotel for the night, grrr). I went home to Athens and spent a very nice 10 days there. Seeing friends, family and loved ones as well as being there for the religious union of Matt Handley and his wife Megan. Apparently they did the legal marriage thing like a month before but oh well. The wedding was a great time and Athens was very pleasent as to be expected. Congrats to Matt and Megan. Also, congrats to George’s friend Zuber and his wife. George coincidentally attended Zuber’s wedding the day after Matt’s and was gone about the same amount of time less his fun in Vegas. For those curious, the van rested at the Las Vegas airport long term parking.

All seemed well for our return but once again, my travel luck kicked me in the ass. My flight out was delayed by 10 hours by the way and I missed my return flight due to a 2 hour traffic lock in Nelsonville as a result of downed powerlines. I was put on standby status for a couple flights, which I luckily made both of and ended up landing in Vegas 3 hours after I was supposed to. Not to shabby if I say myself. Denver has a baller airport btw for anyone who hasn’t seen it.

All seemed well, we reconveened around midnight PST which sucked b/c we both came from EST which put us at 3am. The tentative plan was to drive toward the ocean, since it was cool but it was a solid 4-5 hour drive to LA. Shit, we’ve done worse though so lets try.

Safe_tankFirst step, fill the tank right? Not so easy. The Vegas heat had split this fuel tube that goes from the gas pump into the tank so as I began to fill the behemouth tank, gas began to spill on my feet. I stopped the pump and let out a mighty “fuck.” Okay, lets see what we have in the tool box. Lets see what the gas station. Ponder. Ponder. See picture to understand the solution. None the less it was about an hour to two hour delay.

So we get the tank filled and push out into the night. I was pretty worthless, George was driving and I was fading quickly. I had dozed and a woke to George pulling off the highway possibly muttering something about almost driving off the road. I think we needed coffee to make this work. We ended up just passing the hell out right on the side of the highway in a little dirt lot, not awoken until around 8am the next morning by the sun. We still aren’t sure what time we fell asleep but I’d have to guess between 3-4am. I didn’t even bother getting out of the passenger seat and George kind of just flopped onto my shelf.

So its now hot, and we are in the desert. Completing the plan of getting coastal immediatly took priority. After reviewing our location and the map of L.A. we decided that the city of Irvine (to which we attribute knowning of the city due to Blizzard’s HQ being there). Turns out Irvine is freaking awesome as far as suburbs go. A very intelligently designed burrough with lots of green space. We quickly found UC of Irvine where we set up roots in their libraries for three days. Of course there were 24 hour fitness in the area (one we learned closed at 9pm, seriously WTF).

Our brief sebaticle to Irvine ended with a plunge inland to Corona and its Men’s Suit Warehouse where George obtained a very slick suit a great price. A hair cut later and man does this boy clean up. Now armed with the tools for his interview tomorrow we came back down into the SD area after the suit was altered. Checked out UCSD campus, which is awesome as to be expected with its evil super villain library. Hunger and coffee drove us into La Jolla, which spit us up and chewed us out. Having tentative plans for laundry we came down to PB where we knew where the laundrmat was. Do some laundry drink some pints, park the van, PB library and its deja vu from a month and a half ago. So we are back in PB today. Miramesa for interview tomorrow for Care Fusion. Everyone cross your fingers for George.

I shall leave everyone with this visual reminder of who we be.

So let me guess you fixed the van with duck tape right. Looks like George knows how to stand out at an interview - coordinating his face and hands to match his shirt interesting concept.
